Crystal Green was born and raised in Durant, OK. Crystal graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. During her college career, Crystal worked at the Campus Police Department helping students with handling parking passes, tickets, badges, and any other applicable needs. She served 18 months as a Proselyting missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; focusing on sharing the Redeeming message of Jesus Christ through service in the local community, and teaching others about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Crystal served as an Officer in Training at the Durant Police Department and then transitioned to a 911 Dispatcher for 3 years at the Durant Communications Center, which covered all of Bryan County. From serving as a Missionary to serving the community as a Dispatcher, Crystal found her love of helping others. Shortly after working as a Dispatcher, Crystal continued to develop her skills with serving others as a Staffing Coordinator through the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. Here, Crystal helps Tribal Members
begin their careers within their Tribe. She has also helped Non-Tribal and Non-Native people in the community find jobs and Careers at the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
She continues to further her education by taking Leadership courses offered at the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. After completing the Supervisor-level Training, Toksalechi, back in February 2024; she is excited to begin the next course of Leadership training, Apensachi, soon.
Crystal learned from a youthful age what it means to be a family and how to treat others. Her parents were divorced in her early teens and quickly remarried with other people. She and her sister were caught in the middle of many custody battles between hurt and angry parents during the years following the divorce. With years of distance between then and now, Crystal has been able to rekindle those familial relationships, thankfully before the passing of her beloved Stepfather at the end of 2022.
With life experiences, spiritual growth, and a desire to help others, Crystal has felt drawn to do something greater with her life and make an impact with others. She found out about the MMIW cause back in 2023 at an awareness 5k run in Antlers, OK. Since then, she has been trying to raise more awareness for Native people going missing or are murdered. While trying to learn more about the statistics and those people who are gone, Crystal has also tried to grow her connection to her Tribe. She is learning the Chahta Anumpa (Choctaw Language), learning more about the Culture, and doing what she can to help keep the Choctaw Tribe a Sovereign Nation.
